Rhode Island Pride Announces Jess Motyl-Szary as New Director
Providence, RI – Rhode Island Pride is proud to announce the appointment of Jess Motyl-Szary (she/her) as its new Director, marking an exciting new chapter for the organization and the community it serves.
A dedicated advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, Jess Motyl-Szary has been deeply involved with Rhode Island Pride since 2016, when she first joined as a volunteer. In her inaugural year, she was recognized as Rookie of the Year, setting the stage for nearly a decade of impactful service and leadership within the organization.
Over the years, Jess has held a variety of key roles, including Kids Zone Chair, Vendor Coordinator, Board Member, and Volunteer Coordinator. In her role as Volunteer Coordinator, she led a revitalization of the organization’s volunteer program, creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience for those who give their time in support of Pride’s mission. She also served as Mx. Bisexual Rhode Island 2019.
“We couldn’t think of a better person to help lead Rhode Island Pride into its next chapter,” said Rodney Davis, President of RI Pride. “Jess is a thoughtful and strategic leader who is deeply connected to our community. She shows up for this work with intention, and with a clear understanding that real impact comes from relationships, collaboration, and bringing people along—not just moving things forward.
This work isn’t easy, it asks a lot of those who choose to lead it with resilience, empathy, and vision. We have complete confidence in Jess’s ability to bring people together, foster collaboration, and strengthen Rhode Island Pride as both a celebration and a movement. She leads with integrity, purpose, and heart, and we are excited for what’s ahead under her direction.”
“Jess has earned the trust and respect of this community through years of service and dedication,” said Will Tregaskis, the Treasurer of RI Pride. “She leads by example, listens with intention, and shows up with authenticity in everything she does. We’re thrilled to see her step into this role and know Rhode Island Pride will continue to grow and thrive under her leadership.”
Beyond her work with Rhode Island Pride, Jess is deeply engaged in the local community. She serves as a captain for WaterFire Providence, volunteers with the Providence Preservation Society and Ten Lives Cat Rescue, and is a leader within Front Runners Rhode Island, an LGBTQIA+ running club.
Rhode Island Pride invites the community to join in welcoming Jess Motyl-Szary as Director and looks forward to her continued leadership in advancing inclusion, visibility, and celebration for all.
